WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOOING? Cosmetic tattooing (Permanent Make-up) ), is the process of implanting color micro-pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a tiny, sterile, disposable needle.

ARE THERE ANY RISK TO COSMETIC OR MEDICAL TATTOOING? Cosmetic and medical tattooing is a safe and relatively painless procedure when performed by qualified technicians.  Most common side effects include discomfort during the procedure, swelling and redness. Other side effects include mild bruising and or bleeding. Each treatment is done under strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines. A certified technician administers new procedures using disposable needles, tubes, caps, casings; anything that comes into contact with clients are brand new and sealed prior to your treatment. Pigments used are iron oxide based and contain FDA approved ingredients for permanent cosmetic use.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

There is no definitive answer to the longevity of a cosmetic tattoo as it is dependent on many factors: colour pigments used, environmental factors such as exposure to UV light, tanning and not using proper sun protectants, your health and overall individual physiology. However, as with any tattoo or colorant (pigment) in general, fading can and often does occur, requiring periodic maintenance every 2-5 years. This is something that we recommend, but that is not always necessary. Keep in mind, every individual and individual skin type will heal the tattoo differently; to ensure that you receive a free touch-up, you must come back within 3 months of your original appointment.

DOES IT HURT?

Most people will experience some discomfort, although it varies depending on each person’s pain threshold. A highly-effective topical anesthetic cream and gel are used during and before your procedure and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable throughout.

WHAT IS TOUCH-UP APPOITMENT AND DO I NEED ONE?

During the initial procedure, the treated area will be saturated as much as possible with color.  Due to swelling, there may be some areas where the tissue will no longer allow pigment to be implanted.  Those areas will show less color upon healing and may require another visit to be filled-in.

Because everyone’s tissue reaction is different, some clients will need a ‘touch-up’ while others will not.  The treatment area must heal before a refinement procedure can be performed.  You should wait 4-6 weeks to allow for complete tissue healing and color stabilization.  Once the desired results are achieved, you can keep the color looking fresh with a maintenance visit or let the micropigmentation slowly fade over time.

WILL MY PERMANENT MAKEUP EYEBROWS LOOK NATURAL?

PREPARING FOR YOUR COSMETIC PROCEDURE CAMOURFLAGE

The first step is to obtain a clearance from your physician. Then you can make an appointment with us for consultation.
At the consultation we will determine if you are a candidate for scar camouflage tattooing and discuss your options. If you are a candidate, the next step will be to set an appointment for a “Spot Color Test”. Other permanent cosmetics professionals sometimes refer to this test as a “Patch Test.”
